Welcome to the BestUsenetReviews blog — our home for Usenet news, provider deep-dives, and tips from people who test these services every month.

For years we’ve been quietly maintaining our monthly provider rankings, testing speeds, measuring retention, and tracking every price change across the Usenet market. The blog is where we’ll share everything that doesn’t fit in a star-rated review card: the why behind ranking shifts, interesting technical changes at the major providers, and the questions we get asked most often.

What to expect

  • Provider news and analysis — when a major provider changes retention, speeds, or pricing, we’ll break down what actually changed and whether it matters.
  • How-to guides — practical walkthroughs for newsreader setup, SSL, VPN pairing, and NZB indexer configuration.
  • Backbone and retention updates — who owns what, which providers share infrastructure, and what that means for your downloads.
  • Honest comparisons — the kind of head-to-head breakdowns that don’t fit neatly into a review page.

How we write

Everything here is written by people who use Usenet every day and have been testing providers for years. No AI-generated filler, no affiliate-driven “best of” lists dressed up as news. If we recommend something, it’s because we actually use it or tested it ourselves.

That said, we do earn affiliate commissions when readers sign up through our links — that’s how we fund testing infrastructure and keep the site running. It doesn’t influence our rankings. Our methodology page goes into detail on how we keep reviews honest.
